In November 2022, Centennial Yards marked a major milestone with its first official groundbreaking, launching construction on two 19-story towers: a 304-unit residential building and the 292-key Hotel Phoenix. Both projects are slated for completion in 2025, signaling a transformative step forward in the revitalization of Downtown Atlanta.
In March 2024, Centennial Yards announced plans for an eight-acre entertainment hub thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors. Situated across from State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the entertainment district will include an expansive plaza ready in time to welcome thousands of enthusiastic 2026 FIFA World Cup fans. Four surrounding buildings will also be constructed, with interiors slated for completion in 2027.
Centennial Yards is growing fast—transforming from vision to vibrant reality. The reopening of the historic Steele Bridge in 2023 reconnected the district to Downtown, while Wild Leap Atlanta opened its second location with a flagship brewery and event space. In 2024, construction began on an eight-acre entertainment district featuring retail, restaurant space, and a new hotel. Key tenants include Live Nation and Cosm, with Cosm developing a three-level Shared Reality venue for sports and entertainment. The Mitchell, the first residential tower, is now open and welcoming residents, and Hotel Phoenix is rising as a bold new landmark in the heart of the city.
By redeveloping 50 acres of underutilized space in the Gulch, the project is introducing a dynamic mix of residential, retail, entertainment, and public spaces that will redefine how people live, work, and play in the city. With luxury apartments, immersive venues, and walkable access to major attractions like Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Centennial Yards is creating a true city center that Atlanta has long lacked. This bold vision is not only elevating the everyday experience for residents but also positioning Atlanta as a premier destination for tourists. Ultimately, Centennial Yards is giving Atlanta the downtown it deserves—one that’s inclusive, energetic, and unmistakably world-class.
The convergence of four major rail lines fueled the rapid growth of Atlanta into an important hub for manufacturing and transportation. Entrepreneurs like Carrie Steele Logan and William Markham came to the burgeoning city to build a better future. Newspapers like the New Era and The Herald told stories of invention and advancement, and at the heart of it all was a rail junction that connected not just places but people and ideas.
The original Circle Wye junction is still present on our site and inspired the notable “A” railroad design you see in the Centennial Yards logo.
Known locally as “The Gulch,” this area has since been dominated by underutilized parking lots and uninspiring concrete, only coming alive for tailgating.
Centennial Yards promises to not only revitalize this neglected part of the city but also serve as a catalyst for economic growth and social interaction.
